My fascination with filmmaking started when I was 8 with my family’s first camcorder…it was 1995 and they were brand new technology. I stuck with the visual medium through college, studying Telecommunications at Bowling Green State University in Ohio and minoring in Film Production. I moved to Chicago where I worked on commercials, short films, and 2 feature films as the head of the camera department. But weddings have always held a special place for me ever since I shot my first one in 2004. There’s something about documenting the most beautiful and joyous day of your life that is incredibly rewarding. And by working in the feature film and TV industries, I’m constantly seeing new techniques and styles for filming, which carries through to my wedding cinema. In 2012, I moved to West Lafayette, Indiana with my wife, Mary, as she completes her PhD at Purdue University.
To do the best work possible, I limit myself to 15 weddings per year so I can concentrate on the few I do. Admittedly, there’s a chance I will watch your wedding film more than you will, because I continue to refine it so that it’s just right.
